[Legend: 1 – The appointment with Sis Lolit Solis was set at around 9 AM for which reason, I told Brod Bert Somera for us to meet at 7:30 AM at my Law Office, so that we could reach the North Fairview home of Sis Lolit even before 9 AM.

3 – In almost my countless times of meeting with Sis Lolit Solis, I take it as an opportunity to interview and probe her for those juicy news about show business. 5- Well, perhaps because of his SENIOR AGE, Brod JONAH thought that our meeting time at my Law Office was 7:30 PM and not 7:30 AM.

6 – LIYAG is actually a Tagalog term which means BELOVED. And BUNSO means YOUNGEST….thus, it refers to my youngest daughter who is Sis Lolit’s godchild, ALEE.

7 – BINYAG is the BAPTISM RITES.

8 – REGALO is GIFT.

9 – RECADO is actually additional ingredient or accessory. Well, Sis LOLIT gave ALEE a gift consisting of BELO beauty products and as RECADO or as ADDITIONAL, a big packet of KITKAT CHOCOLATE-WASABI FLAVOR.

10 – TARANGKAHAN refers to the big iron gate fronting Sis Lolit’s residence.

11– NAGTATAHULAN means dogs barking in UNISON. In fact, Sis Lolit keeps a kennel of 38 POMERANIAN toy dogs plus 4 more large-sized dogs which serve as guards at the front gate of her house.

12 –  COSMETIC refers to MAKE UP.

13 – The reported plan is that Vicky Belo and Hayden Kho will have a second wedding in Paris, France. The couple had their first wedding at the Makati City Hall, officiated by the incumbent Makati City Mayor, Abigail “Abby” Binay.

14 – French President Emmanuel Macron is supposed to stand as one of the  principal sponsors in the SECOND WEDDING ceremony between Vicky Belo and Hayden Kho to be held in Paris. Reportedly, the wife of Pres. Macron is Vicky Belo’s close friend.

15 – BRUHA is a slang in gay lingo which means WOMAN.

16 – BRODA is a distortion of the word BROD and/or BROTHER and is pronounced BRUH-DA for RHYMING purpose.

Brod Butch Caparas was so really persistent in ascertaining whether LOLIT SOLIS is a DELTA PI OMICRON Sis. And I thank Brod Butch Caparas for his “PANGUNGULIT”, for if not for that, I would have not been challenged to bring Brod BERT SOMERA to Sis LOLIT SOLIS to prove my point.Thank you so much Brod BUTCH CAPARAS!

But I did have to work like a tireless CARABAO⁶,

To insure that they’ll not turn into a miserable C.O.W.⁷!

 

 

But as it turned out and as it is NOW,

They’ve become an ubiquitous presence…oh WOW!

They have made it as a yearly summer DESTINATION,

As though they’ve been lured with enticing LOVE POTION!

 

 

Still aspiring for more TERPSICHORE MOTION!

They’ve even invaded the DOWN UNDER NATION,

It was in Sydney in SEPTEMBER of LAST YEAR,

We were sheltered by my FIRST COUSIN⁸, who’s so LOVELY & DEAR!

 

 

 

But PRAYERS indeed would be the BEST,

It would bring the TEAMS unto their BEATINEST⁹!

Indeed however, the SUPPORT is most IMPORTANT,

Countries that have participated in the past are Dominican Republic, Greece, Cyprus, Chile, Italy, Mexico, France, Japan, Switzerland, Morocco, Philippines, United Kingdom, China, Canada, Germany, Australia, Ireland, Malaysia, India, Colombia, South Africa, Nigeria, New Zealand, Denmark, Spain, Russia, Portugal, Netherlands, Argentina, Brazil, Trinidad and Tobago, Poland, Uruguay, Thailand and the United States of America. Starting in 2006, my daughter Shayna commenced their quest to snatch the GOLD at the WHHI when they first participated in the 2006 WHHI held in Los, Angeles, California. In 2012, the UP STREET DANCE TEAM using their team name as THE CREW won the CHAMPIONSHIP crown in the ADULT DIVISION.  In 2013, the UP STREET DANCE Team was adjudged RUNNER-UP winner in the MEGA CREW Division.

2 – I was initially unsupportive of my daughter’s passion for DANCE of the HIPHOP genre as I was even asking Shayna to quit her affiliation with the UP STREET DANCE TEAM before as she would almost always be benighted coming from their daily/nightly training sessions. But when they told me that they will compete at the WHHI in 2006, my NON-SUPPORT turned into TOTAL SUPPORT.

3 – I was then compelled to seek the help of a SEER to check what were their chances into this first try at the  WHHI; but I told myself that a DANCER-SAGE, one who is most skilled at dance of the HIPHOP genre, is the best guide that could spell a win for them. But I was unsuccessful to consult either a SEER or a SAGE.

4 – SAGE is used here to mean someone who is so skilled in HIPHOP DANCE.

5 – HYENA is used here to refer to the LAUGHING HYENA. The usage of the term HYENA is to impart the JOY that could have been achieved if Shayna’s team would have WON at their very first TRY.

6 – The CARABAO is considered as the most hard working work animal in the Philippines. And I was able to really work hard to mobilize my fraternity brothers in the PI OMICRON FRATERNITY to help in the logistics such as transport requirement, food and meals as well as moral support in terms of cheering and rooting. Principal among those brods who helped by coordinating the action were: Brod Monching Ramos and his wife Alice and Brod Lestie Lampiño.

7 –  C.O.W. – I came up with this acronym to mean as CASUALTY OF WORLD HIPHOP. But they never became a C.O.W., as they, my daughters: Shayna as well as Cheska (both being members of the UP STREET DANCE TEAM), became a yearly fixture (particularly the UP STREET DANCE TEAM; thence the LEGIT STATUS and ALLIANCE) in the WHHI.

8 – The FIRST COUSIN I am referring to who is based in SYDNEY is the beautiful and bongacious ARLENE “BETH” LLORCA LEVER, married to his debonair Aussie hubby, STEVE LEVER.

9 – BEATINEST is an adjective which connotes reaching the most unusual and remarkable level of dancing skills.

10 – KRUMP is a difficult hiphop dance move which entails the fine art of KRUMPING via a dance  move of putting the hands up, arching the back and pushing hips forward in a gyrating dance movement.]

With respect to the use of the term “MAPILIT”, it would accurately translate to “EAGERNESS” and the term “MAPILIT” was chosen to come up with some kind of a RHYME.

2 – WORLD HIPHOP INTERNATIONAL CONTEST (“WHHI”) is  an international hip-hop dance competition created in 2002 by Hip Hop International. Countries that have participated in the past are Dominican Republic, Greece, Cyprus, Chile, Italy, Mexico, France, Japan, Switzerland, Morocco, Philippines, United Kingdom, China, Canada, Germany, Australia, Ireland, Malaysia, India, Colombia, South Africa, Nigeria, New Zealand, Denmark, Spain, Russia, Portugal, Netherlands, Argentina, Brazil, Trinidad and Tobago, Poland, Uruguay, Thailand and the United States of America. There are four sections of competition: hip-hop for adult, varsity (ages 12–17), and junior (ages 7–12) crews, popping for solo dancers, locking for solo dancers, and breaking for adult crews. In August 2015, new countries, Gabon, Panama and South Korea, Kenya, among others, participated for the first time, joining a record 3000 contestants from 50 countries.

3 – The WHHI appears to be some kind of TEST which would sort of measure the skillfulness of the dance teams in the crucible of international competitions in the world stage.

4 – When Shayna entered the 2006 WHHI contest, she was then a member of the UP STREET DANCE TEAM. They did not enter the FINALS as they were then new comers in the international stage of world dance contests.

5 – In 2012, the UP STREET DANCE TEAM using their team name as THE CREW won the CHAMPIONSHIP crown in the ADULT DIVISION.

6 – In 2013, the UP STREET DANCE Team was adjudged RUNNER-UP winner in the MEGA CREW Division.

7 –  LEGIT STATUS is the team name of Shayna’s team with my son-in-law, Vicente Miguel (“Vimi”) Rivera as its COACH. Shayna serves as Team Manager and Assistant Coach. Alee aka Winnalee, my youngest daughter is also a team member of Legit Status.

8 – “Manugang” means SON-IN-LAW, and that is Vimi Rivera, the skilful coach of  LEGIT STATUS.

9 – ALLIANCE is the hiphop team of my other daughter, Cheska and this team is being COACHED by Cheska’ BOYFRIEND, Jayjay San Juan.

10 – The ALLIANCE Team emerged as RUNNER-UP WINNER in the Varsity Division of the 2016 WHHI held in Las Vegas, U.S.A.

11 – Every year, in August, the WHHI has become the favorite destination of hiphop dancers throughout the whole world including the Philippines.

12 – TANGHALAN is used here to refer to the INTERNATIONAL STAGE. In most of the WHHI that I attended, almost most of the teams would have a member with Philippine blood or ancestry. Once I remember that the Canadian team was all FIL-CAN and the US Team was also with FIL-AM members. And the contest venue will be on a heightened uproar every time a Philippine entry is performing ON STAGE.

13 – “HOKEY” means mawkishly sentimental. And every Filipino would certainly sound and feel sentimental (sometimes with tears forming in the lachrymal glands) when one would hear the cheering of the crowd rooting for the Philippine team performing their dance number on stage. 14 – The HIPHOP dance genre actually originated in the U.S.; but indeed it is truly exhilarating that we are almost beating the US teams in the WHHI. To date, since 2002, the Philippine team has been declared as WHHI Champion for 7 times already.

15 – STATE – the term STATE is customarily used in the Philippine setting, to refer to the United States of America.

16 – In August 2014, when I witnessed and watched the 2014 WHHI in Las Vegas, I almost wept and cried when the Philippine teams performed and almost 2/3 of the audience stood with their lighted cellphones on hand waving their hands and cheering non-stop for the Philippine teams. Actually, 3 Philippine teams battled plus 2 foreign teams (i.e. Legit Status was one among the 3 Philippine teams) for the top spot and the A-TEAM, a Philippine team coached by Ms. Angelica Arda, Ms. Arda being a former UP STREET DANCE; was declared WORLD CHAMPION.  During that 2014 WHHI, Legit Status landed 4^th among the best teams. In the 2015 WHHI, the Legit Status Team landed as RUNNER-UP in the Varsity Division.

17 – Yes, at that 2014 WHHI, about 2/3 of the crowd there at the venue, were PINOY or PINAY or with at least a Filipino ancestry.]

 

 

 

 

 [Though Brod DICKSON aka ASEC DICKSON P. HERMOSO has been appointed as Assistant Secretary for the OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENTIAL ADVISER FOR THE PEACE PROCESS following his retirement from the military (and therefore technically, a full-fledged CIVILIAN); his skills in keeping the peace through fierce battles and solemn negotiations have been used to the hilt by the present leadership. His being a cousin of the President DU30 has given him the edge of conveying to the leadership notable strides in the peace-keeping ventures and crusade particularly in regard to the raging Marawi rebellion. While strategizing how to end the bloody battle; Brod Dickson has affably involved the Muslim IMAMS, ULAMA and USTADZ to come up with a home-grown formula to end the blood-bath. It is hoped that the peace initiatives would bring a peaceful denouement to this raging war. [Legend: 1 – Actually, it was in my FACEBOOK account when I first divulged/revealed that LOLIT SOLIS is our sorority sister, being a renowned member of the DELTA PI OMICRON SORORITY.

2 – Sis LOLIT SOLIS is a celebrity; being a talk show host and talent manager of several of the country’s topnotch actors and actresses.

3 – TA-ARTIST is Filipino slang for actor or actress. It actually is a term which is ARTISTA meaning ARTIST or ACTOR/ACTRESS spelled in reverse.

4 –  LOLITA is actually Sis Lolit Solis’ first name.

5 – YOUNG is a reference to me, being my surname and is used here to achieve a rhyme.

6 – DELTA PI refers to the UP Diliman sorority which is the partner-sorority organization of our fraternity, the PI OMICRON FRATERNITY. The DELTA PI OMICRON FRATERNITY was also organized simultaneous with PI OMICRON’s date of organization but around early part of 1964.

7 – I was recruited into the PI OMICRON by a fraternity brother named ERNESTO TOLENTINO who was my classmate in San Beda High School. My final initiation rites was held at the mansion of the late Brod Pete de Jesus located along IFUGAO Street in La Vista, Quezon City,Metro-Manila.

8 – It was in February 1967 when I became a full-fledged PI OMICRON Fraternity brod.

9 – 7-11 is a reference to the convenience store which is prevakent nowadays in the metropolis and which operates on a 24 hour business.

10 – At UP Diliman then particularly at the PALMA Hall, perhaps an enterprising janitress thought up of opening her store inside a Ladies’ Room. Thus, by word of mouth, this business got so easily advertized and a lot of students would be buying softdrinks and cookies thereat.

11-  That Ladies’ Room which I am referring too is the Ladies’ Room located at the southern end of Pavilion One of the Palma Hall.

12 – A duster is a light, loose-fitting long dress. The original dusters were full-length, light-colored … In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, both men and women wore dusters to protect their clothes when riding in open motorcars on the dirt roads, thus the name DUSTER. Sis Lolit was truly very casual then as she would attend school at UP Diliman regularly wearing a DUSTER dress and an accompanying pair of ordinary slippers.

13 – Pat Salvador aka Patricia Salvador is almost my contemporary at UP Diliman but I believe I was already on my second year while it was her freshman year the. Sis Pat entered the DELTA PI OMICRON Sorority around 1968.

14 – Sis Pat Salvador is also a lawyer (a graduate of UP Law) and we usually hobnob and meet during those UP Law Alumni Homecoming affairs.

 15 – Sis PAT SALVADOR started out as a Professioral Lecturer at UP Law and eventually got promoted as Assistat Dean. Sis Pat is happily married to Quezon City RTC Judge Reynaldo Daway,also a graduate of UP Law.

16 –  CHOKARAN is a Filipino slang which means a fellow or someone who belongs to the same group. It is actually a term which spelled in reverse the word KARANCHO which literally means belonging to the same RANCH.

 17 –    I recently received a phone call from BROD BUTCH CAPARAS, one of our eminent senior brods from the PI OMICRON Chapter in Holy Angels University of Angeles City, Pampanga. Brod BUTCH was so persistent in his query: “SIS BA NATIN TALAGA SI LOLIT SOLIS BROD?”; to which query I proudly answered AFFIRMATIVELY.

18 –  I made a promise to Brod Butch Caparas and I said I will try my very best to invite Sis LOLIT SOLIS to our NATIONAL CONVENTION scheduled on December 15-17, 2017 in Legaspi, Albay. As you all know, Sis LOLIT is a busy-body and she would SURELY JESTINGLY  ask me in return: “BROD, MAYROON BANG PAGKAKA-DATUNGAN DYAN?” which would literally mean: “BROD, WILL I MAKE MONEY OUT OF THAT.” Though LOLIT is actually making money as a TALK SHOW host, she finances the education of a lot of scholars such as those of her kith and kin and is supporting financially too her family members and many others in the movie industry especially her CO-MOVIE scribes who never made it BIG. She also finances the sustenance of a kennel of about 40 POMERANIAN dogs, one of which was a gift from me.]

[WILMA, my first sister in chronological order (as Wandra is my second sister), is shown here after dining at a restaurant with her friends. Wilma is presently managing a hardware store in Cubao, Quezon City.Her friends are all jestingly referring to her as a future hardware businesswoman tycoon. She could have been the WONDER WOMAN¹ of MURPHY,

For as a toddler she tried to fly like a BIRDIE²;

And as WILMA has loomed as our BEST COOK,

[1 – WONDER WOMAN  is a fictional superhero appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics who possesses  extraordinary powers just like the power of FLIGHT which my sister WILMA seemingly tried to mimic as a toddler. And that seeming “flight” of WILMA happened many years ago, in the early 1960s, at our ancestral home located at 19th Avenue, Murphy, Cubao, Quezon City, Metro-Manila, Philippines.

2 – BIRDIE is used here to refer to a BIRD and not to the GOLF term of making a hole with a stroke which is one under par.

 3 – When we were young and WILMA and WINSTON were still toddlers; there was a time (as Mommy Norma goes regularly to Divisoria) when WINSTON was pleading to Mommy Norma to allow him to join in Mommy Norma’s trip to Divisoria. However, Mommy Norma said NO and Winston tried to get Mommy Norma’s sympathy and a possible  YES by WEEPING and CRYING out loud. At that time, we have a long sofa which adjoins the large but un-grilled window (it can be opened and closed via the window sills made of capiz shells by sliding it to and fro along the chiseled funnel on the lower horizontal wood window jamb) in our ancestral home located along 19^th Avenue in Murphy, Cubao. And Winston, perhaps to attract Mommy Norma’s attention who started  her journey to Divisoria  by intending to just walk up to 15^th avenue to take a JD Bus ride to Divisoria (instead of taking a taxi as a taxi ride then was not only scarce but expensive).  And as Mommy Norma walked away, Winston’s crying went louder and louder while I served my role as some kind of “police” to thwart any attempt on the part of Winston to run out of the house and join Mommy Norma. So, feeling that he cannot run out of the house as I was a strict “enforcer’, Winston continued to shriek, weep and cry all the louder. Wilma then was about 2 or 3 years old. And as Wilma was so innocent and naïve, Wilma walked up the sofa where Winston was then prancing while weeping, after her curiosity was aroused as to why Winston was crying, weeping and shrieking so loud looking out of the window while crying. Upon coming atop the sofa and  holding on to the shoulder of Winston to sort of balance her as the sofa was made of a cushioned topping, Wilma eventually clung to Winston’s shoulder.  But Winston’s gaze was much focused at the far left horizon where Mommy Norma had walked away and gone along 19^th Avenue towards maneuvering a short-cut through an alley into 18^th Avenue and eventually the Main Road (now, Justice Lourdes Paredes San Diego Avenue). So, due perhaps to Winston’s anger for not having successfully swayed Mommy Norma to return back home and to fetch him and allow him to join in the Divisoria trip,  he eventually nudged Wilma forcefully as though as in a seeming jiu-jit-su move. As Wilma had earlier clung so tightly unto Winston to maintain her balance atop the cushioned sofa; Wilma like a ball, suddenly went out of the huge open window. Wilma thereafter  dropped upon the roofing of the window eaves and rolled down unto the muddy ground fronting our house (back then as our ancestral’s house’s frontage is uncemented; when it rains— the ground would turn so muddy). We all rushed downstairs together with Winston, and as Wilma rose up with splotches of mud all over her face; I heard Winston weepingly shouting: “HINDI PA PATAY; HINDI PA PATAY!” [English translation: “SHE’S NOT DEAD; SHE”S NOT YET DEAD!”]. That indeed, was truly  a WONDER WOMAN caper! DIVISORIA is actually a shopper’s paradise located in western Manila almost near the North Harbor and items and products are sold there at really reduced  bargain prices.

5a – To achieve RHYME, the male variant of GRACIOSA is used here in this FUN RHYME BLOG, thus; MUCHO GRACIOSO which actually means CUTE and ATTRACTIVE. But as WILMA has mellowed and aged; she is not much of CUTE nowadays, perhaps the better term is “PA-CUTE” na lang…

6 – Wilma took up NURSING in FEU and eventually she worked as an OFW from 1985 to 1997 in a hospital in Qunfudah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

7 – K.S.A. is acronym for Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

This recreation is achieved via the playing of MAHJONG thereat, a game which they all relish and play among all of my siblings (except me who up to now does not know the intricacies of MAHJONG) and Daddy Max.

(1a)  ABRA is known as the DYEING CAPITAL of the PHILIPPINES [bizarrely termed too as DYING capital (in such a strange and abjectly funny way) as there has been a spate of seemingly politically-motivated assassinations lately], as the folks in ABRA know how to derive natural dye from plants which are much abundant in their area.

• (2) ITNEG is the other term used years ago to refer to the aborigines and/or the town folks from ABRA.

• (3) ABRA is also known for a thriving cottage industry which churns out nice and fantastic bamboo crafts.

• (4) JING is the nickname of my brother WINSTON WINIFREDO T. YOUNG.

• (5) Being born on June 22, Rally is guided by the ZODIAC sign of CANCER.

• (6) Being born on June 22, 1956, Rally is guided by the CHINESE sign of the MONKEY.

• (7) A research in the INTERNET, through GOOGLE would show that the name RALITA connotes sensitiveness, creativeness and IDEALISM too.

Recently, with ELLA’s charm — LITO and ELLA were able to snag the SEC CERTIFICATE quick of a valued client, the following day when ELLA aided LITO in the quest.

• (2) LITO aka Enreque D. Lutuc is our Paralegal Assistant who believes that getting what he wants or what he is required to get from government agencies could be expedited via some kind of mild bullying tactics and that “rushing up” an action from a government functionary could be attained by trying to convey some kind of irritation or a harried or famished look unto one’s face like not having eaten breakfast or lunch.

• (3) DONNA is Ms. Donna Balagot, the OJT junior student of Law who is on an OJT engagement with our Law Office. Donna is the daughter of my Daddy Max’s driver (i.e. Ramil Balagot) and that Donna is actually schooling at the Don Mariano Marcos State University in San Fernando, La Union (but has decided to spend her summer vacation here in Metro-Manila; doubling up the usage of her time in Metro-Manila via the OJT with our Law Office).

• (4) JOVY GAMBOL is Atty. Jovy Gambol who is a partner in our Law Office. Jovy has lots of clients and that with his lucrative law practice nowadays, as he is even appearing in court hearings in as far as Iloilo, Antique, Mindoro and Batangas City, he will be hosting a series of “blow-out lunches” equivalent to the number of losses that will be incurred by the CLEVELAND CAVS vs. the WARRIORS.

• (5) UMA-ARIBA actually means going great or going up; and indeed Atty. Jovy Gambol’s law practice is gaining ground and shuttling up.

• (6) DATING is a Tagalog slang which means the outward fascinating manifestations of a person or the seeming good opportunities going one’s way which prove to be the reason for Atty. Jovy Gambol’s lucrative law practice.

• (7) Jovy Gambol is from Batangas and that a native of Batangas is called a Batangenyo.

• (8) Nag-PANTING is a Tagalog term which means to be IRKED or VEXED or ANNOYED.

• (9) AALAGWA is Tagalog slang which means to act amazingly apt and correct. Well, it is said that the best attitude or practice in lawyering is to speak with coolness in court and that it is best to never ever raise one’s voice so that the air of respect, dignified sway and tactfulness would create a good impression or image of an eloquent, refined and tactful lawyer.

• (10) Doc Andy Tan is the incumbent President of the Ateneo Schools Parents Council and is a true friend. Doc Andy is not only a FENGSHUI Master but also a physiognomist, one who can read the fate and character of a person by merely looking at the face of the person. When Doc Andy Tan visited our Law Office, he had the occasion and opportunity to meet up and socialize with Ella and thus, gave Ella some helpful hints about her fate and character.

• (11) SWERTI is a corruption of the Tagalog word SWERTE which means GOOD LUCK.

• (12) PARA is a Tagalog word which means STOP. Though this word is actually derived from the Spanish word PARAR which means to STOP.

• (13) DON FACUNDO is the endearing term which ELLA would use to refer to her live-in partner and soul-mate, JOSE ADONIS ALHAMBRA. Their marital cohabitation has produced 3 kids, IN SO QUICK SUCCESSION MODE.]

10- JOMAR is, at times when LITO LUTUC (our regular court pleading filer) is overloaded with lots of court filing errands, also assigned to do filing of court pleadings at the Manila and Pasay areas as he could do the filing before entering/attending classes at his Law School at the ARELLANO UNIVERSITY LAW which is located in Pasay City, Metro-Manila.

11- As earlier said, JOMAR’s expertise for now is sounding off the Law Office’s pleas for cancellation and postponement of court hearings in times when there is indisposition on the part of a handling lawyer, conflict of schedule and the rest of the many reasons that could be trumped up to have a court hearing canceled and reset, most often with a penalty in the form of FINES.]
