At nang siya nga po ay NAGSALITA…

We sing songs and tell them quaint STORIES,

It’s as though they’re guests in those BDAY PARTIES!

 

 

And my assigned role is to SING and SERENADE THEM…

Also to bond with them, and console those with PROBLEM;

And I was assigned to share my thoughts with FR. RAYMOND,

He’s sort of mestizo with eyes a bit colored ALMOND!

 

 

And as is usual during our ASPAC CARES VISITS,

We’ll be seeing a lot of old and ailing PRIESTS;

And when I started to belt out a ballad and a SONG,

Fr. BALCHAND, the CENTER’s HEAD halted me but not for LONG!

 

 

As I was using a WE SING KARAOKE gadget to eke some MUSIC…

Fr. BALCHAND said that some are still resting,  especially an unwell CLERIC;

But when requests for songs were conveyed by those music-loving PADRES,

Singing resumed though the INTERNET was fluctuating and was not on its CREST!

 

 

 

On the table with me is co-parent VENICE DEE,

She was so caring and assiduous to Fr. RAYMOND and ME;

As I did the talking and lots of CHATTING,

VENICE was serving us food, as he prodded Fr. RAYMOND into WINING!

Home of INTREPID Pinoys, but he looks a bit BENIGN;

[The movie  Quezon’s Game is truly worth watching.  The movie capitalizes upon the grand performance of Raymond Bagatsing  (“Raymond’) who played the role of Philippine President Manuel L. Quezon (“President Quezon”). Raymond opted not to do the easy route of  impersonating the beloved President Quezon. Instead, Raymond decided to infuse the historic character with the fragile soul of a man on a mission but with very little time to do it.There is this one scene that could have gone horribly wrong in the hands of a lesser actor. President Quezon is busy in his office when an assistant brings him the frustrating news that all of his efforts to bring in more Jewish refugees are for naught. He waits for the assistant to leave the office, then he elegantly stands up and calmly walks towards the door to close it, and waits for a few moments. The president then lets out a controlled but evidently exasperated burst of emotion, violently clearing his desk of everything, before deflating into the sick and tired executive that he is,  a scene which may look as something out of a soap opera .]

 

 

 

The movie “QUEZON’S GAME”, is a true MASTERPIECE,

As it is an entirely new kind of cinema BREEZE;

The acting by actor RAYMOND was sooo MAGNIFICENT,

QUEZON was portrayed in the film as truly  MUNIFICENT!

 

 

 

 

 

Our history books, I feel,  were sparse on details about QUEZON,

Maybe that it is because for some kind of REASON;

QUEZON was considered as an excellent political SHREWD,

The US perhaps then felt, he’s set to have them SCREWED!

 

 

What I learned from the grapevine is a LOT,

That QUEZON was something quite like LOTH;

He is pictured as some kind of a ladies’ MAN,

And even deemed as always cursing just like some BOGEYMAN!

 

 

 

But the movie has changed all these bad IMPRESSIONS,

As now I learned that QUEZON is filled with EMOTIONS;

He is truly so KIND, LOVING and so HUMANE…

He’s PHILANTHROPIC and  CARING and not PROFANE!

 

 

But what really intrigued me in the STORY,

Is some revelation that seems blurred in our HISTORY;

Is his INTREPID nature and much PERSEVERANCE,

And his unrelentless sway to set a model for MANKIND!

 

 

When asked why he wanted to help the JEWS,

Without batting an eyelash, he said that it’s the best option to CHOOSE…

For it is not only RIGHT and no one seems AMUSED,

So if no one is aiding, then HELP, and not be BEMUSED!

 

 

The political SHREWDNESS of QUEZON is truly TOPS…

Though not muscular and brawny

not even sporting LAMB CHOPS;

He seemed to have put one over a GIANT,

Of course, that’s the US govt., which then seemed to him, so COMPLIANT!

 

 

 

And I never thought that IKE EISENHOWER was his BUDDY,

EISENHOWER even supported QUEZON’s dream with a stand that’s STURDY…

EISENHOWER almost sort of countermanded the decision at WASHINGTON;

IKE was truly a buddy and friend to our MANUEL QUEZON!

 

 

For IKE was then the assistant military adviser to our COUNTRY,

And I admire QUEZON for having swayed IKE to prop the JEWISH ITINERARY;

Though the US Congress was against it, even the SECRETARY OF STATE…

QUEZON with much fervor pursued as he felt its noble and charitable STAKE!

 

 

 

 

QUEZON’S acuity and wit was further MANIFESTED,

When he put up a quick PRESIDENTIAL BALL and the German envoy was INVITED;

Though chaperoned by a NAZI German officer named Herr EBNER…

QUEZON successfully got what he aspired for, and it came out BETTER! 

 

 

 

With this movie that I have now VIEWED,

The US govt. tried hard not to be BOOED;

QUEZON indeed was a statesman of TOP CALIBER…

As he emerged as WINNER in a seeming PALAVER!

 

 

With the QUEZON movie that I have WATCHED…

It has made me NOW a PROUD FILIPINO…

Though QUEZON’s plan was sort of partially SCOTCHED;

But PROUDER still for a QUEZON that I NOW really KNOW!

 

 

 

Let’s all see and watch the MOVIE…

It is a good memento for heritage and  POSTERITY;

Let’s urge our kin and kith to patronize the SHOW,

I am NOW a truly PROUDER FILIPINO!

As I am a badminton player which makes me an ATHLETE…

I sorely contracted some “ALIPUNGA” on my FEET;

“ALIPUNGA” is known in English as athlete’s FOOT…

But it really is something that I can’t just give a HOOT!

 

 

As I have treated it before with a CREAM,

I decided to apply it just like in a DREAM;

But days gone by and no curing CAME…

I opted to consult a next-street clinic with some FAME!

 

 

It was indeed an ATHLETE’S FOOT….

Thus, the physician gave me a doctor’s NOTE;

I had to take an oral anti-fungal MED,

And some kind of cleansing with  sulfur soap INSTEAD!

 

 

But perhaps my sensitive skin got IRKED,

And an eczema patch on my right upper foot’s surface BREATHED…

As it was itchy, I may have caused a GASH,

‘Cause my uncut nails were sharp like CUTLASS!

 

 

A valued client who caused our 50 % discount at the STEAKHOUSE…

Invited us to join her in a Japanese hot bath HOUSE;

I was actually only eager to have a MASSAGE,

But their snide persuading made me accede as I hate such PERSIFLAGE!

 

 

 

I got swayed to dip in the hot bath POOL,

And thereafter I also dipped in cold water like a FOOL;

And my doctor said, that has caused the INFECTION;

As the water in the pool is not 100 per cent sure of SANITATION!

 

 

And I descried in my shin some kind of SWELLING…

But I just ignored it and even did some PLAYING;

Eventually my feet condition got WORSE,

For which reason, to Saint Luke’s BGC I was post-haste FORCED!

 

 

 

 

 

When I consulted a lady physician at BGC…

I was a bit relaxed as she also graduated from our UP;

She however was brutally candid and FRANK…

Upon showing some allergy on my  soles and on my palms, I got STUNNED!

 

 

 

As she said that it was some kind of doctor’s PROTOCOL…

She urged me to really keep my COOL;

And then she narrated that with this kind of skin AFFLICTION,

I need to take some special blood EXAMINATION!

 

 

 

 

She did blurt her initial diagnosis out CORDIALLY,

But she gingerly asked me for some APOLOGY;

She told me to be candid but must stay cool and not be ANGRY,

As she suspected that I may have syphilis and that’s VD!

 

 

 

 

So, as it was protocol, I took the lab test with COOLNESS;

And the blood and urine specimen were taken by a med TECH,

But it brought me some rejoicing and RELIEF…

As the VD lab test was negative but still no clear skin diagnosis, in BRIEF!

 

She then said that the palm and sole ALLERGY…

Could be some kind of psoriasis but it’s just PARTLY!

And so it was a hodge-podge sort of AILMENT and COMPLAINT…

But the cellulitis on my shin has brought me much ACHE and PAIN!

 

 

Athlete’s foot and eczema on my foot that’s TWIN;

Psoriasis on the sole and palm, and even on the SHIN…

That’s the reason why I can’t COME,

A sordid trauma, this unusual saga has ended and BECOME!

 

 

Psoriasis said the doctor is principally caused by work-STRESS ,

I jokingly asked her thence : “could it be cured by a MISS-STRESS”;

With a naughty look the doctor eked out a SMILE…

Sort of accidentally pinched my shin, I thus uttered a LOUD: “ARAY”!
