Many works have been written as to why our country seems to be so DISUNITED…
Some say, it’s due to INDIVIDUALISM, a polite word for “SELFISHNESS”, ‘tis SAID;
Or a seeming absence of the state of NATIONHOOD, a true sense of COMMUNITY – –
For being CLANNISH, has turned us indeed into this kind of PROCLIVITY!
The islandic geographical setting perhaps of our COUNTRY…
Has made it quite difficult to achieve much UNITY;
The ILOCANOS are sometimes the bugbear of the VISAYANS – –
And the ILONGGOS, would not feel at ease with the MANGYANS!
And history may have been so UNFORTUNATE…
As some tinged with traitorous betrayals, amassed some fortune and lucky FATE;
And America’s legacy of RIGHTS and FREEDOM – –
Seems to have been exaggerated, and those use of rights surpassed what’s QUONDAM!
We FILIPINOS, are so truly CLANNISH and so POLITICIZED…
As POLITICS even have become a business, an industry much DESIRED;
And the emergence of DYNASTIES, is another feature of our clannish CHARACTER – –
That’s why it truly will not get erased in our very own CHARTER!
Our people have become accustomed to bashing our own LEADERS…
They seem to feel so proud, as they’re considered as fearful, brave and dashing BASHERS;
For if this habit will continue, our stanchless bashing will be upon a RETINUE – –
All the succeeding PREXIES will also feel the bashing, BLACK and BLUE!
This is the reason why DISCIPLINE has gone ROTTING…
Because our leaders have been bashed like MANURE, that’s so odorous and STINKING;
For what respect will our leaders even MERIT – –
Even our descendants, will find it foul, to greet their leaders, in the future with courteous SPIRIT!
How can our law enforcers be efficient in POLICING…
Neither would the traffic enforcers, be with respect to TRAFFIC REGULATING;
If the leader of the nation is treated so very BADLY- –
Others would surely follow, even to smack in the face those enforcers so HORRIBLY!
Let us respect heretofore the POSITION and not the OCCUPANT…
Let’s give regard to the election results, even if the occupant is CORMORANT;
As it’s a cycle that has to be complied, as elections are REVERBERANT – –
If the occupant is not to our liking, the next election will be most SIGNIFICANT!
The FACEBOOK bashing has even ruined what’s left of our dwindling DISCIPLINE…
Thus, the last resort is to have a leader who’s strict and so STRINGENT;
For if DISCIPLINE will not truly come from WITHIN US – –
We direly need a leader who need to even strike terror (to insure DISCIPLINE) with an imagined WHIP or a LASH!
Some would even dare say: “WE”RE NOT AN UNDISCIPLINED BUNCH!”…
But that would surely approximate as a mere HUNCH;
For what would you say if a motorist stays in traffic’s INTERSECTION SQUARE – –
Well, perhaps that has become the new normal, and that is deemed as SWELL!
It has been oftenly said that: “TOO MUCH FREEDOM, IS NOT GOOD”…
But we have savored those rights as if they were LUSCIOUS FOOD;
And with this availment of much abuse of the FREEDOM – –
Would ruin a nation like ours, and even that of a KINGDOM!
